Early Treatment of Burn of the Dorsum of the Hand and the Face by Tangential Excision and Skin Grafting

Abstract
|

|
There are differece of opinion as to the optimal treatment of burned hands and faces, but poor results achieved in many of these face and hand burn due to scarring, scar contracture and deformity.
To prevent these complications, several authors have proposed tangential excision of the. burned tissue at the an early period, with immediate skin grafting.
With 5 cases of early treatment of the dorsum of the hands and face burns by tangential excision and skin graftng was performed in Busan National University Hospital during Nov. 1976 to Oct. 1977.
Comprehensive analysis was done in regard to clinical study, it is to say, the degree of tak° of skin grafting, the period of hospitalization, scar contracture, functional problems and rehabilitation.
